Stella Maris
Fruity,
delicious,
sustainable.

Our olive oil.

Why does Stella Maris Olive Oil taste so unique?

Well, we do have some home advantages: our location by the nature reserve, the clean air in northwest Sardinia, the sun, the sea – and, of course, the olives.

Bosana is a special olive variety: it grows on dry, brittle soils and is resistant to pests. Its taste is fruity, with a slightly spicy finish. Blended with Leccino and Frantoio, it creates the fruity-nutty taste of Stella Maris Olive Oil.

We deliver genuine extra virgin olive oil that strictly meets all Italian standards. With our sustainable production process and EU organic certification, Stella Maris Olive Oil is good for our planet – and delicious for people.

Olive oil from Sardinia.

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean. Our farm is located near Alghero, the old capital of the province of Sassari in the northwest of the island.

The climate is Mediterranean, with hot summers and mild winters. Sardinia has a unique food culture that has developed independently under the changing influence of the Phoenicians, Romans, Greeks, Spaniards, and Arabs. Sardinia is one of the world’s five “Blue Zones” and the home of many healthy and long-living people. High-quality olive oil is the centerpiece of the so-called “Mediterranean diet”, an essential part of this healthy lifestyle.

Our olive oil.

Currently, there are more than 1,300 olive varieties grown worldwide, with over 600 varieties in Italy alone.

Stella Maris’ olives come exclusively from the trees on our small farm and are freshly pressed after harvesting.

Three varieties of olives grow in our grove:

Bosana (about 90% of our trees): A native Sardinian variety with a very fruity, spicy aroma. Their oil tastes of almonds, tomatoes, artichokes and grass.

Leccino (5%): A variety grown throughout Italy, known for its high resistance to pests. Medium fruitiness with a bitter, sharp sweetness in the beginning and almonds and artichokes in the aftertaste.

Frantoio (5%): Native to Tuscany, this variety is popular for its strong growth. Its taste is characterized by medium fruitiness and bitterness as well as spicyness.

These three types of olives are blended to create the distinctive flavor of Stella Maris Olive Oil, marked by pronounced fruitiness as well as almonds and grass.

A special glass bottle.

We’ve put some thought into our bottles.

We want our high-quality oil to arrive as fresh as possible. Therefore, we pay special attention to the selection of our bottles.

Olive oil should be stored protected from light, heat and air. When you pick up one of our bottles, the weight might surprise you. Our dark, thick-walled bottles help ensure that the oil tastes delicious to the last drop. And through its ingenious shape the spout allows you to pour the oil without dripping.

EU organic quality label “Euroleaf”.

In 2021, our oil was awarded the official BIO certificate from the Italian Ministry of Agriculture: Operatore controllato n. 111271 Organismo di controllo autorizzato dal MiPAAF IT-BIO-015 Agricoltura Italia.

Thus, Stella Maris Olive Oil complies with the Euroleaf standard.

Euroleaf (EU seal of approval for organic agricultural products) is a mark that aims to guarantee that the origin and production method of food comply with the EU regulations for organic agricultural products. The label is mandatory for all packaged organic foods in the EU. Only companies regularly checked by an independent, specialized certification body according to EU regulations and passing strict controls about their content, such as the absence of synthetic chemicals, are eligible. For processed products, the seal means that more than 95% of the raw materials are organic.

In our case, it’s 100%. Pure olives, nothing else.
